Biden rejoins Paris climate agreement and WHO, revoked the Muslim travel ban in first executive orders
President Joe Biden has signed a flurry of executive orders, actions and memorandums aimed at rapidly addressing the key issues and reversing many of President Donald Trump’s policies.
The 30 executive orders Biden has signed in the first days of his administration include the measures to address key challenges such as the coronavirus pandemic and the student debt crisis, halting funding for the construction of border wall, reversing Trump’s travel ban targeting largely Muslim countries. The “100 Days Masking Challenge” that will require masks and physical distancing in all federal buildings, on all federal lands and by federal employees and contractors, tops the list of actions.

Here’s the full list of executive actions signed by President Biden in last three days:
- Launches a “100 Days Masking Challenge” asking Americans to wear masks for 100 days. Requires masks and physical distancing in federal buildings, lands and urges states and local governments to do the same. (COVID)
- Rejoin the World Health Organization with Dr. Anthony Fauci becoming the head of the delegation to the WHO. (COVID)
- Creates the position of COVID-19 Response Coordinator, reporting directly to Biden and managing efforts to produce and distribute vaccines and medical equipment (COVID)
- Promoting COVID-19 safety in domestic and international travel, requiring mask wearing in airports as well as many trains, airplanes, maritime vessels and intercity buses. International travelers must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test prior to arrival to the US. (COVID)

- Direct Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to expand reimbursement to states to fully cover the cost for National Guard personnel and emergency supplies. (COVID)
- Providing economic relief to individuals, families, and small businesses; and to state, local, tribal, and territorial governments. (COVID)
- Establishing the COVID-19 pandemic testing board and ensuring a sustainable public health workforce for COVID-19 and other biological threats. (COVID)
- Protecting healthcare workers and other essential workers from COVID-19 under the Occupational Safety and Health Act. (COVID)
- Directs the Department of Education and HHS to provide guidance for safely reopening and operating schools, childcare providers and institutions of higher education. (COVID)
- Sustainable Public Health Supply Chain. Assess the availability of and need for pandemic response supplies. Strategy to design, build, and sustain a long-term capability to manufacture supplies for future pandemics and biological threats. (COVID)
- Directs FEMA to create federally-supported community vaccination centers. (COVID)
- Calls for assistance to those who are struggling to buy food, missed out on stimulus checks or are unemployed. (Economy)
- Protecting federal workforce. Restores collective bargaining power and worker protections for federal workers, and lays the foundation for $15 minimum wage. (Economy)
- Extend the existing nationwide moratorium on evictions and foreclosures. (Economy)

- Roll back more than 100 Trump actions on the environment and cancelling Keystone XL pipeline. (Environment)
- Rescinds the Trump administration’s 1776 Commission and launch a government initiative to ensure racial equity. (Equity)
- Prevents workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. (Equity)
- Requires non-citizens to be included in the Census and apportionment of congressional representatives. (Census)
- Reverses the Trump administration’s restrictions on US entry for passport holders from seven Muslim-majority countries. (Immigration)
- Halts construction of the border wall. (Immigration)
- Preserving and fortifying Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), deferring the removal of certain undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children. (Immigration)
